Abstract

Abstract - The South Sumatra Basin is ranked second for hydrocarbon production in Indonesia after the Kutai Basin is calculated from its total production. In the South Sumatra Basin, the Talang Akar Formation is the dominant source of commercial hydrocarbons. Still, the South Sumatra Basin, with mostly old fields, has a low production rate from a low recovery factor. In the South Sumatra Basin, accumulated oil production is 2.3 BBO (Billion Barrels of Oil) from the initial reserve value of 3.1 BBO. Production optimization can be done in various ways to support the exploration and production of hydrocarbon reserves. Facies and subsurface deposition analysis studies can be used as a reference to determine which reservoirs have the potential to continue their development. The method used in facies modeling uses a combination method of Truncated Gaussian Simulation (TGS) with Trend and Sequential Indicator Simulation (SIS), and modeling is carried out in 3 reservoir zones. Facies analysis and depositional environment in the study area formed a tide dominate-estuary environment with facies associations Tidal Sand Bar, Tidal Sand Flat, Sand-Sheet, Tidal Mixed Flat, and Tidal Mud Flat. The modeling results show that the distribution of reservoirs is relatively northeast-southwest with deposits that have the potential as reservoir rocks and are deposited in the Tidal Sand Bar facies association.
